First day

There is a lot to discover in Burdur. After a delicious local breakfast, you can start exploring Burdur from the city center, which hosts the works that reflect the cultural heritage and historical texture of the region in the best way. At the Burdur Archeology Museum, one of the richest museums in Turkey, you can get information about the historical past of the region and examine the valuable artifacts from the Hacılar, Kuruçay, Höyücek Mounds and the ancient cities of Boubon, Kibyra, Sagalassos and Kremna. Another historical building in the garden of the museum is the Pirkulzade Library, one of the most beautiful examples of Ottoman architecture. In the center of Burdur, there are magnificent structures that are worth seeing, such as Ottoman mansions, mosques, clock towers, and Turkish baths. The next stop after Burdur Archeology Museum will be the 14th century historical Burdur Ulu Mosque and Clock Tower. From here, see Taş Oda Mansion, one of the most beautiful examples of 17th century classical Ottoman architecture, which is another historical building and can be easily reached on foot. Before visiting the mansion, you can have a coffee in the mansion's garden, which is surrounded by greenery. After the Taş Oda Mansion tour, there are Bakibey Mansion, one of the elegant examples of 17th century Ottoman architecture, located in the center of Burdur and visited with interest by history and architecture enthusiasts, and Çelikbaşlar House, one of the traditional Turkish house examples in the garden of the mansion. After that, don't forget to see Piribaşlar and Egyptians House, Grand Vizier Derviş Mehmet Pasha Library, Hocabali Bath and Şeyh Sinan Mosque. In addition to these riches, you can see the fossil remains in the Burdur Natural History Museum. Taste local delicacies such as Burdur walnut paste, hemp halva and poppy halva at the sales points on your way. While you're at it, don't forget to buy Alaca Dokuma products, which have handcrafted weavings unique to the region.

In the afternoon, you can visit İnsuyu Cave, Turkey's first cave opened to tourism. After İnsuyu Cave, you can visit the ancient city of Sagalassos, located in Ağlasun district and included in the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List. In Sagalassos, one of the best preserved ancient settlements in Asia Minor, you can see the world's highest altitude ancient theater, the magnificent Antonine Fountain, which has been flowing for 2000 years, and many other valuable works. Start your journey to Bucak district to see İncir Han and Susuz Han, which are masterpieces of Seljuk architectural style that will make you experience the breezes of the past with their historical texture. Before returning to Burdur, enjoy dinner with a magnificent view in the Bucak Urban Forest, where the Onaç Dam is located. Or, if you want to have your dinner in Burdur Center, you can discover many traditional tastes, especially Burdur Shish, at the local restaurants in the center of Burdur. You can also attend special events organized in Burdur in the evening to get to know the culture of the Teke Region closely, listen to local lively music and watch folk dances.

The second day

On the second day of your Burdur excursion route, you can go to Lisinia Nature, located on the shore of Burdur Lake. You can spend a pleasant time in touch with nature in Lisinia Doga, one of the first Wildlife Rehabilitation Center in Turkey. Especially if you come to the region at the end of June or at the beginning of July, you can take beautiful photos and enjoy the magnificent view in Akçaköy Lavender Valley. From here, you can pass to Salda Lake, one of the natural wonders that comes to mind when Burdur is mentioned. Salda Ski Center, located in Eşeler Plateau, approximately 20 minutes from Salda Lake, is among the ideal destinations for ski lovers visiting the region. If you are visiting the region in winter, you can ski in the ski center surrounded by lush forests, accompanied by the unique lake view. On your Burdur excursion route, you should definitely take the ancient city of Kibyra, located in Gölhisar district, one of the most valuable historical heritages of Burdur, and included in the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List in 2016. The world's largest Odeon, located on the ground of the stadium and orchestra section, one of the most magnificent stadiums in Anatolia, where gladiators fought in the Ancient Age, with the Medusa head depiction, which is the only one in the world with its construction technique, can be counted among the unique historical structures you can see in Kibyra. Before returning to the center of Burdur, you can eat Gölhisar roasted roast for dinner and relieve the tiredness of the day by sipping local black cumin coffee. Be sure to check out the products made of Ibecik cloth, a traditional weaving type unique to Gölhisar Ibecik village, and Ibecik dolls. In the evening, you can attend special events organized in Burdur to get to know the culture of the Teke Region closely, listen to local lithe music and watch folk dances. You can also discover many traditional flavors, especially Burdur Shish, at the local restaurants in the center of Burdur for dinner. Of course, two days will not be enough to see Burdur's rich historical and cultural assets and magnificent natural beauties. You will need more time to see and experience the many values of Burdur.
